Information for parents

How we keep your child safe and well, and what we ask of you.

Policies and reports

Our latest Ofsted inspection, in November 2023, rated us Good in every area. Read our Ofsted report.

Child safety and collection

The safety and security of the children is extremely important, and we take every possible measure to keep them safe.

Please give us a photograph of anyone who has your permission to collect your child. Alternatively, you can use a password system. Please talk to the manager if this would help.

If your details change, such as your address or phone number, please let us know so we can keep our records up to date. From time to time we'll also ask you for a full update.

Safeguarding

Our environment is a safe place where children can enjoy learning and grow in confidence. We have a responsibility to take every necessary step to keep children safe and well, and we take any concern about a child's life at home, at nursery or elsewhere seriously. We work in line with the Lincolnshire Safeguarding Children Partnership and Ofsted.

We record all injuries to children, including any your child may have had while not in our care. All our staff are DBS checked.

We have a legal duty to record and report any suspicion of abuse, however minor, to the Lincolnshire Safeguarding Children Partnership.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Allison Zachowicz.

Behaviour

We encourage positive behaviour from children towards their friends, carers and surroundings, and we praise and recognise children's positive actions and attitudes.

In extreme cases of unwanted behaviour, we'll talk to you when you collect your child, so we can work together to encourage more positive behaviour. If staff feel a child's behaviour is unsafe for a particular activity, we may remove them from it. The child will always be given fair warning and the chance to change their behaviour first.

Illness and medication

Please keep your child at home if they have a contagious rash or illness, conjunctivitis, or sickness and diarrhoea. If your child becomes ill while they're with us, we'll contact you or your emergency contacts to arrange for them to be taken home. We're sorry, but we don't have the facilities to care for sick children.

If your child needs medication for any condition, we're happy to give it. We'll ask you to fill in a medication form. See our settling-in guide for what happens if your child becomes ill at nursery.

Confidentiality

All details we hold are kept in the strictest confidence, and access is limited to those who need to know. If you'd like to see the information in your file, please make an appointment with the manager. You can see your child's learning journey at any time; just speak to their key worker.

We have a policy on social networking sites, and we ask practitioners and parents not to discuss the nursery or its families on them.

Complaints

If at any point you have a complaint, please speak to the owner, manager or deputy first. Your complaint will be taken seriously and dealt with in the strictest confidence, and we'll aim to resolve it as well as we can.

If you feel it wasn't resolved to your satisfaction, you have the right to complain to Ofsted.
